If you’re a site manager or construction professional with an expiring SMSTS certificate, the good news is you don’t need to start from scratch. The 2-Day SMSTS Refresher Online course is the smart, fast-track solution to renew your certification and keep your compliance up to date — all without stepping off site.
What Is the SMSTS Refresher?
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher course is a two-day update designed for those who already hold a valid SMSTS certificate. It brings you up to speed with the latest health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and managerial responsibilities across UK construction sites.
This is not a simplified course — it’s a comprehensive refresher that ensures your knowledge and qualifications remain sharp, relevant, and compliant with current CITB standards.
Why Choose the Online Option?
At Target Zero, we deliver the SMSTS Refresher live online via Zoom, allowing you to join from home, the site office, or wherever suits you best. It’s the same high-quality course you’d get in a classroom, but with added flexibility and zero travel time.
Benefits of the 2-Day Online Format:
- CITB-Approved training and exam, fully recognised across the industry
- Live tutor-led delivery via Zoom for real-time engagement and support
- Save time and money – no travel, hotel, or downtime costs
- Ideal for busy professionals who can’t take extended time off-site
Who Needs the SMSTS Refresher?
This course is essential for anyone whose SMSTS certificate is still in date but approaching the five-year expiry window. Once your certificate expires, you’ll need to retake the full five-day SMSTS course – so don’t leave it too late.
Typical delegates include:
- Site Managers
- Project Managers
- Supervisors moving into management roles
- Health and Safety professionals in construction
What’s Covered in the Course?
Over two action-packed days, our expert trainers will guide you through the latest updates and practical knowledge needed to manage site safety effectively:
- Updates to UK health and safety legislation
- Risk assessment, method statements, and accident reporting
- CDM Regulations and environmental management
- Site organisation, working at height, and PPE
- Leadership, behavioural safety, and worker engagement
You’ll also take part in case studies, interactive discussions, and a final exam to validate your knowledge.
What Happens After I Pass?
Once you pass the assessment, your SMSTS certificate is renewed for another five years, helping you stay compliant and eligible for supervisory or managerial roles on site.
Tip: Book your refresher course well before your current certificate expires to avoid the cost and time of repeating the full five-day course.
