What Is the CSCS Green Card?
The CSCS Green Card, also known as the Labourer Card, is issued by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and is designed for workers performing general site labouring duties. It’s often called the Green Card for Construction, and is widely recognised across the UK.
How to Apply in 2025
To apply, you’ll need to complete a few important steps:
1. Complete CSCS Green Card Training
You must pass a recognised Health & Safety Awareness course — often referred to as CSCS Green Card training. Target Zero offers this as a 1-day CITB-accredited course, available both online and at training centres nationwide.
2. Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test
The CITB Card test must be taken separately and focuses on site safety basics. We’ll help you book this test as part of your application package.
3. Apply for the Green Card with CSCS
Once you’ve completed the training and test, you can apply for your card via the CSCS website or let us manage the application process for you.
Requirements (2025 Update)
To be eligible for a green card, you’ll need:
- Valid ID (UK Passport, Driving Licence, or Right to Work documents)
- Completed CITB Health & Safety Awareness training
- A passed CITB HS&E test (within the last 2 years)
Renewal: What You Need to Know
