What Is the SMSTS Course?
The CITB SMSTS course is a five-day management training programme that teaches construction managers and supervisors how to plan, manage and monitor site safety in line with UK legislation.
It builds on the knowledge gained in the SSSTS course but is designed for those with overall responsibility for site safety, project planning and legal compliance.
Key learning outcomes include:
- UK health and safety law and responsibilities for managers
- Risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
- Environmental management and waste control
- Reporting procedures and incident investigation
The course ends with a multiple-choice assessment and interactive exercises to ensure practical understanding.
SMSTS Course Requirements
Before enrolling, ensure you meet these SMSTS course requirements:
- Good understanding of spoken and written English
- Current or planned management or supervisory role on construction projects
