If you supervise people, activities, or contractors on a construction site, holding the SSSTS qualification is essential. It is one of the most recognised health and safety certifications for supervisors in the UK and is expected by principal contractors, employers, and major frameworks.
At Target Zero Training, we deliver SSSTS courses and SSSTS Refresher training nationwide and online, helping supervisors stay compliant, confident, and career ready. Our training is practical, exam focused, and designed to support long term progression within construction and civil engineering.
What Is the SSSTS Course
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course is a CITB approved qualification created specifically for supervisors. It bridges the gap between operatives and site management by ensuring supervisors understand their legal duties, safety responsibilities, and leadership role on site.
The course gives supervisors the knowledge and confidence to manage health and safety proactively rather than reactively. It also demonstrates to employers that you are competent, compliant, and serious about your role.

At Target Zero Training, we focus on real world application, not just theory. Our tutors bring genuine site experience and explain how the regulations apply day to day.
How the SSSTS Course Is Delivered
The SSSTS course is completed over two days and includes continuous assessment and a final exam. We offer:
- Classroom based SSSTS courses at UK training centres
- Structured online SSSTS training where available
- Flexible dates to suit working professionals
Our delivery ensures high pass rates while maintaining full CITB compliance.
SSSTS Refresher Course Explained
The SSSTS certificate is valid for five years. To remain compliant, supervisors must complete the SSSTS Refresher course before expiry.
The refresher course updates your knowledge of legislation, reinforces key responsibilities, and allows you to renew your certificate without retaking the full course.
If your certificate has expired, you will need to complete the full SSSTS course again.

Preparing for the SSSTS Exam
Many supervisors worry about the exam element of the course. Preparation is key, especially if you have been out of formal learning for a while.
We strongly recommend revising beforehand using up to date mock tests. Practising questions improves confidence, highlights knowledge gaps, and significantly increases pass rates.
