Steel Erecting NVQ – The Only ECITB Approved Route to a CSCS Card

If you're working in steel erection and want to progress your career, there's one clear path to getting the CSCS card you need: an ECITB-approved Steel Erecting NVQ. But here’s the truth most people don’t realise there are only two qualifications that lead to a CSCS card in this field, and both are delivered exclusively through ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board).

At Target Zero Training, we deliver both of these NVQs nationally recognised, industry respected, and fully CSCS-compliant.

Why You Need an ECITB NVQ in Steel Erection

To legally work on most UK construction sites, especially in steel erection, you need a CSCS card to prove your skills and competence. The only way to obtain this card in the steel erecting sector is by completing one of the following ECITB-accredited NVQs:

1. ECITB Level 2 Diploma in Erecting Steelwork Components
Ideal for operatives and experienced site workers who assemble and install structural steel components on construction projects.
2. ECITB Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction – Lifting, Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment
Aimed at senior operatives, team leaders or supervisors who take on more complex lifting and structural installation tasks on site.

Don't Be Misled – Only ECITB Steel Erecting NVQs Count

Many providers offer steelwork-related courses, but only these two ECITB NVQs are recognised by CSCS for obtaining your card. If you're being offered an alternative route, check again — it won’t lead to a CSCS card for steel erection.

ECITB is the only awarding body recognised by CSCS for Steel Erecting NVQs. That makes these qualifications essential if you want to:

• Legally work on UK construction sites
• Progress into more skilled, higher-paid roles
• Demonstrate verified, independently assessed competence
