If you are renewing your supervisory qualification, understanding what to expect in an online SSSTS Refresher is essential. The course updates you on the latest health and safety legislation, reinforces your responsibilities as a site supervisor and extends your certificate for another five years. Delivered live online, it provides the same CITB accredited content as classroom training while offering greater flexibility and reduced travel time. At Target Zero Training, we structure our online SSSTS Refresher to ensure you remain engaged, confident and fully prepared for the assessment.
In this guide, we explain exactly how the online SSSTS Refresher works, what you will cover, how the assessment is structured and how to prepare effectively.
Course Format and Structure
The online SSSTS Refresher is delivered over one day through live instructor led virtual training. You join via a secure video platform and participate in real time discussions with the tutor and other delegates.
Unlike self paced e learning, this format ensures:
- Direct interaction with an experienced CITB approved tutor
- Opportunities to ask questions throughout the day
- Group discussions based on real site scenarios
- Structured guidance through updated legislation
You must attend the full session, remain visible on camera and actively participate to meet CITB attendance requirements.
Eligibility Requirements
You can only attend the SSSTS Refresher if your existing SSSTS certificate is still valid. If your certificate has expired, you must retake the full SSSTS course.
If you are unsure about your eligibility, our team can confirm your certificate status before booking.
What You Will Cover
The refresher focuses on legislative updates, supervisory responsibilities and reinforcing best practice.
Key Topics Include
- Updates to health and safety legislation
- Risk assessments and method statements
- Working at height controls
- Fire prevention and emergency procedures
- Occupational health awareness
- Environmental responsibilities on site
- Effective communication and toolbox talks
Because supervisors play a frontline leadership role, the course emphasises accountability and behavioural safety.
How the Online Assessment Works
At the end of the day, you complete a multiple choice examination. The test confirms your understanding of updated responsibilities and legal duties.
The assessment includes:
- Multiple choice questions
- A defined pass mark set by CITB
- Online invigilation procedures
To strengthen your confidence before attending, you can use our mock tests to familiarise yourself with question style.
Technical Requirements
Before joining the online SSSTS Refresher, ensure you have:
- A stable internet connection
- A laptop or desktop with camera and microphone
- A quiet environment free from interruption
- Valid photo identification
Meeting these requirements ensures a smooth training experience and avoids compliance issues.
